Description

On first glance the Monitor lizard rider is a striking ceramic work sculpted in a realistic shape and form making it hard not to notice. This species is exclusive to the African continent and just so happens to be the second longest and heaviest bodied lizard. Two Zulu riders are sculpted riding on the lizard with a leafy umbrella in one of the tribesman hands. This a great piece of art that can sit on a shelf, a floor or even dominate a section of a room.

Introduction

Ardmore derives from the Gaelic word for "high place". and is Latin for zealous or ardent; it is this passion and energy that has driven Fee Halsted to strive for excellence since her earliest days.
Today, 70 talented Zulu, Sotho and Zimbabwean artists work under Fee mentorhsip in the KZN Midlands, Caversham Studio.
Ardmore is not just about ceramics. It is about the artists who have grown in self-worth throughout the years. Each artist has been inspired by the creativity of those who have gone before and, in tun, pass their knowledge to others. Ardmore works in true spirit of unbuntu - We are because of others.

Zulu culture and color come together to create each piece of Ardmore. Bold. Exotic. Proud. They are unique works of art.

No molds are used in production. All creations are either thrown on a potters wheel or sculpted by hand, then meticulously painted by the artists. No two pieces are alike.
